Version 5.0? Where is version 4.2, 4.3, etc?
I like changes. After one year, stuck in qE 4.x, I think, "what the hell, I want to create qE as an easy CMS solution". So, I changed a lot of things.
The first thing you may notice in qE 5, is no more page manager & news manager. All integrated into the new page manager. With the new page manager, you can create your own pages you need. Need the old page, or news page, or blogs, or simple catalogs? You can do them with new page manager.
Also, new in qE 5 is menu manager. Gone the old days when you had to edit .tpl to add your menu. Use menu manager, add links, add pages, done.
Ah, also I removed some features in qE 5, some of them are: news (new page manager is more powerful, so no need for a separate script to do the same); ticket support (use contact form); and IP banning (no one is using that, after all, most IP are shared).
So, with lots of changes, I decided to change the version number to 5.0. Afterall, it has been a year since v4.1.6!
Version 4.0? Where is version 3.6, etc?
We move to v4.0 because there is many changes in v4.0 from 3.5. Some of them are: replacing prototype.js with jquery.js. Module management with 8 pre-defined positions. Menu management with 4 pre-defined positions.
Version 3.5? Where is version 1.x & 2.x?
Version 3.5 marks the first public release of qE. Version 1.x, 2.x & 3.0-3.4 used internally to create our client's sites, and also to build Cart2 & Kemana.
